Installation & Compatibility

How to install react-native-fetch-client across different package managers, environments, and TypeScript configurations.

Package Manager Installation

Install the library using your project's package manager:

$npm install react-native-fetch-client

Expo Projects

Install the package with your project's package manager:

bash
npm install react-native-fetch-client
Expo runtime support
The package does not add a native networking module. Confirm that your Expo runtime provides the Fetch APIs needed by the features you plan to use. Other packages in your app may have separate native setup requirements.

Runtime Requirements

Package metadata declares Node.js 18 or newer and provides ESM and CommonJS entry points. The package uses globalThis.fetch by default; other runtimes need a compatible Fetch implementation or a custom fetchImpl.

The project describes React Native, Expo, browsers, and Node.js as target environments. Check your specific runtime for Fetch features such as ReadableStream if you plan to use streaming or download progress.

TypeScript Configuration

The package includes TypeScript declarations. If your project needs an explicit module resolution mode, use a setting compatible with its module format and your bundler:

tsconfig.json
json
{
  "compilerOptions": {
    "moduleResolution": "bundler", // or "node16" / "nodenext"
    "target": "ES2022",
    "strict": true
  }
}
