Why Modern Apps Prefer Fetch-Native
When Axios was introduced in 2014, browsers had inconsistent XMLHttpRequest implementations and Fetch did not exist. Today, WHATWG Fetch is universally supported across React Native Hermes, Expo, modern web browsers, Cloudflare Workers, Next.js Edge, Bun, and Node.js 18+.
Using an XHR-based client in React Native requires the JavaScript thread to bridge requests through native modules via legacy asynchronous messaging. In contrast, react-native-fetch-client communicates directly with Hermes C++ native fetch bindings, providing lower latency, lower memory overhead, and seamless streaming support.
Zero Dependency Guarantee
Every capability in
react-native-fetch-client is written directly into the package codebase. We never install external retry libraries, cache packages, or mutex primitives. Your production bundle stays completely lean and free from supply-chain CVE vulnerabilities.
